Veterinarian in Johnson City TNStephen Strickler, DVM

Dr. Strickler is an East Tennessee native raised just outside of Kingsport in the community of Indian Springs. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he received his B.S. in Animal Science from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources in 1992 and his DVM from the College ofVeterinary Medicine in 1996. Dr. Strickler has practiced locally since graduation. He joined Young's Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in December 2001 and is now a partner. He is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, but particularly enjoys canine and feline internal medicine. He and his wife, Beth, who is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine as a veterinary behaviorist, live in Fall Branch and have two sons, Caleb and Joshua. His family enjoys the outdoors through gardening and farming. They have two dogs, four cats, two horses, chickens, and cattle. Dr. Strickler is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association.

Veterinarian in Johnson City TNJanie Martin, DVM

Dr. Martin is a coal miner's daughter from Southwest Virginia. She completed her undergraduate study at the University of Virginia's College at Wise, and received her B.S. In Biology in 2002. After college graduation, Dr. Martin worked as a laboratory technician at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. In 2004, she was accepted into the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, and graduated with her DVM in 2008. Dr. Martin moved to Johnson City and joined the Mountain Empire group in July 2008. Although she practices primarily at Young's Animal Hospital and Mountain Empire Animal Hospital, she occasionally works at other hospitals with the group as needed. Dr. Martin has a special interest in canine and feline dermatology, internal medicine, and senior patient care. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Termessee Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Martin and her husband Ryan live in Piney Flats with Sophie and George, two cats that she adopted during veterinary school, and Fischer, a Terrier mix who was adopted from the Washington County Animal Shelter. Dr. Martin loves going to the lake, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
